Super Intelligent Toons

Superior. Supreme. Extreme.
More on last week's cartoon topic regarding the looming end of humanity (the climate crisis gets bumped down to third place, behind self-developing code and WWIII, in urgency):

Oh wait; the sh-artificial apocalypse is already here, particularly if you live in Texas and have access to the World Wide Web, or Gawd forbid a television. Anybody have 'suffocating under a multi-hundred million dollar slop heap' on their bingo card?

Bueller?
Another not-trivial election upcoming, and the potential swampees are losing their minds. That might have something to do with -- in the case of the Great State -- their generational strategy of tacking harder starboard. "I'm more conservative than/love T-Daddy more than you, RINO" has, at last, reached its diminishing returns inflection point. The Tea Party/MAGA clan has had a nice long run, but the event horizon draws close. It's possible Bo Freedom was the final overreaching straw (he's still ahead, by the way). But give Nanny Patrick credit for his many significant contributions.

It could just be the GOP has finally worn out its welcome. The perfect storm: a confluence of 32 years of chickens and their shit finally coming home to roost, coupled with T-ManBaby fatigue, the wars, the economy, yadda yadda. It might be yet another slate of the most accomplished petty crooks, high criminals, racists, homophobes, practicing sexual deviants, grifters, and just plain incompetent assholes. Brian McFadden believes it's their incredible comms this cycle.
I think he's spot on.
So it looks like the GOP's GOTV efforts will focus on suppressing the vote harder. 'Pass the SAVE Act' bleating failed, so the hasbara turns to criticizing mail voting -- declared fraudulent by a president who votes by mail; aggressively purging voter rolls; surging ICE to a reduced number of polls; and LEO apparatchiks failing to send voter registration forms collected at drivers license offices to the state's voter registrars are all tactics meant to serve a strategy that declares only the most 'qualified' (read: Republican) voters are able to cast a ballot.
In sporting news, Robert Kraft has entered the concussion protocol.

Do NOT read antiSemitism into an artistic interpretation where only antiZionism exists. That's what the New Jerusalem reference is there for.

I'm convinced that with the pending invasion of Cuba, T-Bully Boy needs to start another war so that he can claim he's ended another war. At this rate our beautiful country is going to get attacked again, so weaponizing his proposed tribute to himself makes perverse sense. Trumpful.

'The Archsenal' is fitting. So is the veterans groups' lawsuit against its construction.

Garnet Coleman spent half his life fighting for the last, least, and lost among us. His Texas House service -- elected at age 30, retired at 60 -- coincided with the decline of the Texas Democratic Party, so his row was hewn straight out of the caliche. A too-brief listing of his legislative accomplishments include (via Axios Houston) his advocacy for expanding health care, specifically establishing the Texas Children's Medicaid and Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP). He authored the Sandra Bland Act, which requires independent investigations of jail deaths and diverts people with mental health or substance abuse issues from county jails to treatment. And he secured increased funding for mental health care and HIV/AIDS services. He battled for HBCU, specifically his alma mater, Texas Southern.

In the Aughts he was a big friend to the budding Texas Progressive Alliance, a rowdy bunch of bloggers who expected to change things around here, an effort that might finally bear some fruit this November. If he could only be with us to watch the election returns come in.

Garnet Coleman was the best of us.
