Joy Hangover Funnies

Felt like a disconnect this past week.

Just me? The Blues got way too happy and the Reds got even more chapped than usual. It's a bipolar country ... but no matter how screechy they get about it, it's still not a binary choice.

More commies at the end of this post. I was hoping for some good brain worms toons; maybe next week. The confab was not one I watched because I don't do sugar highs any more (living 20 years with diabetes will do that to a body). Still couldn't resist tuning in to the Xitter meltdown, which was revealing if disconcertingly Orwellian.

The rainbow wristband accessory is the entire HGLBT Caucus. Okay, maybe not all of it but way too much of it *coughAnniseParker*cough*

(You know Parker's going to challenge Lina Hidalgo in '26, right? And Adrian Garcia and Lesley Briones will endorse the challenger. Right?)

Anyway. I hate the local Donks. Mostly. Thank you and big ups to CMs Tiffany Taylor and Leticia Plummer for being the noteworthy exceptions.

Back in Chicago it didn't look like a very big tent unless you were a Republican or a war monger. But I repeat myself.

With a bit more than 60 days to Election Day and some weird twists and turns already behind us, it would be foolish to think that Kamala is just going to glide into the Oval with no published policies, no press conferences, and one or two debates with a flailing, wailing, even-more-unhinged-than-regular Trump. She could still blow this.

Bookmark so you can come back and laugh at me if I'm wrong, like eight years ago.

The Egos Have Landed Funnies

The people who say that we can’t afford social welfare programs never think affordability is a problem when it comes to police, building new prisons, or going to war.

It’s particularly aggravating when people say this about programs that will pay for themselves in the long run (as panel three mentions). “We can’t afford it” isn’t generally a real argument: It’s an excuse to avoid making an argument.

Grin and Bear It Funnies

Bobby Junior made the Texas ballot for November, and just like their Biden depression flipped to Kamala ecstasy, Lone Star Donks are suddenly under the artificially-induced delusion that Deep-In-The-Hearta is in electoral play.

It's not called the silly season for no reason. In fairness, the heat might be a contributing factor.

In unfairness, this shit right here -- already as stubborn as a skin rash -- will ratchet up if more Blue MAGA can convince the DSA sympathizers/Stockholm Syndromers that a vote for anyone but their fascist is a vote for the other fascist.
Donald Trump and JD Vance are doing their weirdest to force themselves back into the Lamestream Media's spotlight. And failing spectacularly. World Culture War Three has nuked them.
Veep Genovibes, emulating Joementia's capacity to fuck things up, made a stab at snatching defeat from the jaws of Comeback of the Century. Outcome murky; check again later.

What's not in doubt is actual foreign influence in our elections. Not Russia, China, Iran, or any of the usual suspects however.

It's not just the Zionists. There's a Meta-Musky dankness to the memes.

Images like "shrimp Jesus", an 18-wheeler overflowing with babies, or a police officer holding a massive bible while wading through floodwater are regularly going viral on Facebook, garnering tens of thousands of likes.

Even the Brits' stiff upper lip is turning sneery about it.

Sunday "Weird Colored Cat People" Funnies

Among a variety of other reasons, this is why I am voting Green again.
(Not "liberal" polices, Mike Ramirez; no polices at all. A solid artist and otherwise smart fellow often ruins a good toon pandering to the lazy-thinking right. Sad!)

Are Greens weird? You bet your sweet ass. But Jill Stein won't be rolling out the red carpet for genocide. Ever.
I thought of this cartoon after listening to a news report interviewing swing voters. The swing voters they interviewed weren’t stupid, and they all seemed likable. But they were very, very ignorant. Ignorant of policies, ignorant of what a President’s actual job powers are, ignorant of what sources of information are credible.
