A couple of extensive profiles of our self-loathing psychopath of a governor hit the social media airwaves yesterday. Mimi Schwartz and Michelle Davis showed no mercy, just as Greg Abbott conducts his own life.
Governor Greg Abbott has always been something of a cipher, maintaining a focus on staying in office while changing positions on everything from COVID restrictions to animal-welfare protections. But the truth about the governor is hiding in plain sight. https://t.co/YNn5wILRHL

“There is a seething anger in him that reveals itself in really hateful ways against the weakest people."

I've been blogging about Abbott since David Van Os ran against him for the SCOTX in 2004. These two long reads don't reveal anything new to me. The worst part is that he's not in as much electoral hot water as the Harris County judge, unfortunately.
“I had a chief of staff who frequently came in and said, ‘These are not the right people to do this,’” Eckels said. “You need people that will be there to challenge you in office. … I don’t know that happened here.”#HarrisCounty #TXlege #HouNews https://t.co/JJkfPKDWmI

Kuffner finally had something to say about this case, but it was as little as he could get away with. No real surprise there.
I'll return to Abbott's latest clusterf at the border momentarily. This next article seems newsworthy for its reveal of the president's, shall we say, mental adeptness.
NEW — The infighting among President Biden’s top aides about the border grew so bad last year that he erupted during an Oval Office meeting, demanding to know who he should fire for the blame game. w/ @KannoYoungs and @esullivannyt https://t.co/qIvg61Hrjw

Himself? Abbott? Hey, wasn't Ted Cruz riding around with truckers in DC a couple of weeks ago? Probably too much to ask of our junior senator to step in and do something here.
"Absolutely we will see these costs be shared with consumers."

The Texas International Produce Association says Gov. Abbott's border security strategy of enhanced searches of trucks has caused massive delays in shipping products, which can lead to higher costs for consumers: pic.twitter.com/HdxCIl13Dl
One trucker I spoke with said he was about to run out of diesel to power the refrigeration unit keeping his cargo of pork safe. He’s been waiting to carry the cargo into Mexico since Friday. He’ll run out of diesel tonight, he said. https://t.co/gE1sd0VXrI

After all, there's probably some book that must be banned from schools or a nervous, insecure child that needs to be bullied about their sexuality.
GOP politicians don't solve real problems, instead they create fake problems to rally voters around.

Rather than focusing on housing costs or TX's broken foster care system, Abbott & Dan Patrick would rather attack LGBTQ+ youth and their teachers. #txlegehttps://t.co/1CU48Cnese
It's not as if Texas has any real problems that they've created while they sucked up to the extremists among the GOP primary voter base.
.@everytown’s report shows Texas accounted for a quarter of the nation’s fatal road rage shootings in 2021, with these tragic incidents nearly doubling since 2019.

Permitless carry doesn’t seem to be making anyone safer, @GovAbbott. #txlege https://t.co/iBjdeLdLD0

I feel increasingly less confident that we are going to be able to vote our way out of this morass. Maybe it's just me.
Texas conservatives are putting in place private police forces, militia-like, to 'investigate' elections. Specter of intimidation is through the roof, with a similar effort in 2020 already occasioning physical violence. https://t.co/zvQINKEBbH
